The proposal of the seven categories of lines is based on the following reasons:
1. Compared to fiber optic local area networks, the seven types of system solutions provide the desired performance and bandwidth, but their overall cost is only a fraction of that of fiber optic.
2. Fiber optic systems can provide people with sufficient bandwidth, and the price of fiber optic cables is similar to that of Category 7 cables. However, if the cost factors of fiber optic routers, optical switches, and optical network cards are considered, the price advantage of fiber optic will quickly be lost.
However, before Class 7 lines can fully demonstrate their true advantages in both aspects, the cost of optical communication networks has been greatly reduced. Moreover, due to the natural advantages of optical communication in transmission distance, Class 6 lines have been comprehensively suppressed by optical communication before they can develop rapidly.
The slogan of "light in and copper out" is no longer just a slogan for communication operators, but has taken solid steps. FTTx and PON technologies have been widely popularized in the field of communication network access. LAN communication is also about to undergo a scene of "light entering and copper retreating".
